What Should I Expect When Using The Services of EssenMED House Calls?

Upon calling our office we will obtain the necessary information to verify your insurance coverage and schedule a house call appointment. All efforts will be made to schedule your visit within 48 hours of your request.

On the day of your appointment, our medical provider will perform a comprehensive physical examination and conduct a thorough review of all the medications you are currently taking. Based on the initial assessment, the provider may order additional in-home diagnostic services such as blood work, x-rays, ultrasounds, EKGs, and ECHOs. Our provider will arrive at your home equipped with a laptop with which to access electronic health records, order diagnostic tests, and send prescriptions electronically, in real-time, while at your home. A subsequent appointment will be scheduled for the provider to follow-up and explain laboratory and test results. If additional referrals are required for specialists who do not make house calls, we will gladly arrange for transportation to and from medical offices. While patients are typically seen on a monthly basis, you may call our office and request an appointment at any time.

We work with the patient and caregivers to develop a customized plan of care, which may include arranging for additional in-home services such as skilled nursing, home health aides, and delivery of durable medical equipment and medications. Our bilingual customer service staff works to ensure these additional services are put into place as quickly as possible – often within 24 to 48 hours.

How Soon Can I Be Seen By An EssenMED House Calls Provider?

What Hours Are Available For House Call Appointments?

Appointments are typically scheduled during standard business hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

How Often Can I See An EssenMED House Calls Provider?

Your health care needs will determine house call frequency. If you are sick and experiencing issues, our provider will see you more often.  To ensure optimal disease and medication management, patients are typically seen every 4-6 weeks.

What In-Home Services Do You Provide?

We offer basically the same health care services you would receive in a primary care doctor’s office setting including physical examinations, laboratory services, diagnostic testing and mobile x-ray.

What Do I Do If I need Labs, X-rays, Or Other Diagnostic Tests?

Most laboratory and diagnostic tests can be done in the comfort of your home. Our customer service staff works with partnering agencies to schedule in-home tests including:

  • Complete laboratory and blood testing
  • Echocardiogram (Echo)
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG)
  • Holter Monitoring
  • Pulse Oximetry
  • Sleep Studies

What If I need To Speak To My EssenMED Provider After-Hours?

Our on-call after-hours service is available to triage your health care needs and, if necessary, put you in touch with our on-call staff.

Do I Call You If I’m Experiencing An Emergency?

We are not an emergency service. If you are having a medical emergency please call 9-1-1 or visit your nearest hospital emergency department.

What If I Have To Go To The Hospital?

EssenMED House Calls works with all the local area hospitals and will continue your health care before, during and after your hospital stay. Please call us at 718-294-6200 once you are admitted to the hospital so that we can coordinate your post-discharge care.
